Cynthia served on the Parental Advisory Committee for the Family Navigation Project at Sunnybrook Hospital in 2011. In the years since then,  she brought in national mental health organizations such as Edgewood Healthcare Bellwood, Salvation Army, CAMH, and CMHA to help build the SMART Recovery brand in Canada . She has worked with numerous organizations in Ontario to access training for their service providers and encouraged them to use SMART programming in their treatment centers. She has forged relationships with local groups such as HARTHUB, St. Mikes Homes and Jewish Addiction Counseling Services and the RAAM Clinics . In 2012 CAMH invited her to join the Mental Health and Addiction Youth Network, in 2014 she served on the St. Michaels Hospital Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes Committee. She has been presenting and teaching  evidence-based programs to hospitals, government agencies, and health organizations for over sixteen years. Her passion and commitment to advocate for families with mental health and addiction problems is based on her lived experience, and it has been honed through the study of Motivational Interviewing with Dr. Bill Miller, Positive Reinforcement CRAFT Family Addiction Training, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment and Schema Therapy along with Mindfulness practices.. Cynthia developed the SMART Toronto Mentorship Program, served on the SMART Recovery International Global Branding and Training committees from 2022 to 2024. Cynthia served as the SMART Recovery Regional Coordinator for Ontario from 2012-2025.
